Welcome to Carletto's website! :-)

Carlo

Dear Visitors, my name is Carlo Ghio, I was born and raised in Genova, Northern Italy, and you can just call me "Carletto" :)

I have several websites about different subjects, but this is my personal page, all in English, where I want to talk about my passions, most of all travelling all around Europe and the World and share my experiences with my foreign and Italian friends.

Why don't I use a blog? Simply, I don't like them so much; I'd never have the time to update them every day and I'm not going to write on internet all my feelings, all what I think and do, also because my life is actually quite boring, every day is similar to the previous one unless I'm on holiday, travelling somewhere! And so travels, also short trips, are the main subject of this site, as well as the typical photographic sections which are always present in every personal site! :)

Photography is one of my passions, even if I'm not a good photographer, I don't have a professional camera, just a small digital one, but I simply enjoy going around my hometown or everywhere else taking pictures. I mainly like to take "urban pics", but since this is a personal site, you'll find mostly pics of me and my friends.

How to contact me

MSN
SkypeMe

Feel free to contact me on ICQ or MSN messenger, I'm often online, and if I'm not just leave me a message and I'll answer as soon as possible!
My MSN address is also one of my main e-mail address, so you can use it for mails as well, but pleas don't send me spam! ;)
As you see I have also an account on Skype, but I use it very seldom, so it's probably not the best way to find me! :)

Latest news...

What am I doing?
Music I don't buy many CDs lately and there're very few contemporary singers/bands which I like, but there are still some good old men who keep on writing and singing great songs and it's always a pleasure to buy their CDs. In this last period I got the CDs of Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour, 'On an Island', Bruce Springsteen's 'We shall overcome', and Mark Knopfler's (with Emmylou Harris) 'All the roadrunning'.
All 3 CDs are very nice and easy to listen to. Gilmour's dreaming atmospheres, the loud country music of the Boss and the soft feeling of Knopfler's and Harris's voices are all very different from each other, but all give the listener a good, peaceful feeling. Different genres of music, but all "high-music", out of any fashion in the years of stupid pop music, rap or technoshit. Yes CDs are too expensive, and downloading from eMule maybe is not so legal, but in some way go and listen to this good music! :)
Cinema After some time without going to the cinema, I don't know why, maybe just lazyness, I went a couple of times in the last weeks between May and June, and they were both musical movies. The first movie I'm talking about is John Turturro's "Romance & cigarettes"; I like Turturro as an actor and I know this movie was produced by the Coen bros, so I had quite big expectations. So what can I say? It's a nice movie, I don't usually like musicals, but I must say that the musical scenes are the best side of this film, while the rest is sometimes too "loud" and dialogues a bit too rude and always talking about sexual mattes. Nothing against it, but it seems to be quite an obsession! :) Great acting by Christopher Walken, his role is fantastic.
The second movie I saw is "Radio America", by Robert Altman. It's not really a musical, but it's all about music, radio and good old, simple sentiments in the "prairie America" and surely country music has a deep role in this film. Many characters, as in any Altman film, great actors (Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson) for a delicious tribute to the roots of America: simple, sometimes rude, maybe a litle stupid, but true and genuine. It's a pleasure to watch this movie, enjoyng the great acting of every single actor, laughing at Kevin Kline's tragicomic role, it's really a must-see movie for this year 2006.
